So I have decided to go with the research based rationale. It needs tweaking though. I really need to make sure it is an established problem that first years have to make sure it is definitely relevant to the brief. I will take it down to its bones to make it clear.

My original problem is that I collect too much because I get inspired by objects more than internet image based things.
This could now be seen as a problem as there is a definite reliance on the internet in the year I am in. That is to say some students rely completely on the internet to be inspired and conjure up ideas. I understand that the internet is a good source of research and I use it too but it becomes a robotic unhealthy thing to do. Being inspired by your surroundings should be a lifestyle now we are becoming Graphic Designers. Awareness of our surroundings is crucial to gain the most beneficial inspiration everyday towards our work.

That is why I will be encouraging primarily the first year students (and I'm sure other years could relate) to go back to primary research and really open their eyes, collect and be inspired by things around them that aspire to their taste.

My research will include finding out exactly how many people use the internet for a main source of inspiration and ideas. I will analyse my own collections and decide if I can use it during the distribution of my solution. Perhaps existing solutions should be studied however one does not want to be a hypocrite!

R A T I O N A L E
First year student rely too much on search engines when researching and seeking inspiration. Research becomes robotic and their awareness of inspiration already around them is ignored.
