Design a typeface for someone else

When asked to create a typeface on somebody else I used a questionnaire as the primary source to work with.  This was because i thought it would be a lot more logical to create a style around a small subject matter rather than a generalised theme.  I ended up homing in on a homely feminine theme with the inclusion of cats.  I used Monotype Corsiva as my original typeface because of its curved serif's.  However I strongly dislike my final solution.  I feel as though it is incredibly basic but not in a good way.  The typeface hasn't been adjusted enough and there is a complete lack of significant concept and experimentation.
